TOM And His Computer
Playing In The Night EP

Following on from the ‘Small Disasters EP’ here is the second release from TOM And His Computer on Trentemøller’s expertly curated In My Room label and sees the Dane diving even deeper into his obsession with retro-futuristic noisy edginess - or his “commitment to fresh ideas with a clear sense of melodies” (Clash Magazine).

The ‘Small Disasters EP’ by TOM And His Computer also made an impression with its music videos, especially ‘Organ’, that won more than a dozen video awards around the globe.

Now the new EP takes the whole adventure even a step further and features two vocal songs featuring Julie Runa from Copenhagen based band Roxy Jules: ‘Eighty Four’ is a killer krautrock  / post punk tune with intermittent screaming synths, while ‘Playing in The Night’ is a more darkwave-meets-surf rock via a laboratory of electronics and noisy guitar layers - thrilling stuff.

The opener ‘Uhhish’ is an atmospheric ambient piece - at least in the beginning - before soundscapes overlap into each other and a gritty, new wave bass finally emerges, building into a noisy reverb-filled ending.

‘Hanoi Golden Rice Hotel’ brings another dark vibe into play, mixing up horror film mood scapes with inventive melodic lines and precise drums and finally ‘Colormind’ is the fifth and last track here, and indulges TOM’s love for noise and melody in the same space - a fitting closing to an exceptional EP.
